Tammi Lawson manages the artwork and material culture collection at the Schomburg Center, which includes traditional African art, African-American historical artifacts, and artwork from the Harlem Renaissance, the Works Progress Administration (WPA), and the Black Arts Movement of the 1960s and 1970s. Lawson also serves as a liaison for researchers, educators and writers working with the collection and assists Schomburg curators in planning and curating exhibitions. Lawson holds an MLS degree specializing in the preservation of cultural heritage

The Schomburg Center's Art and Artifacts Division houses the largest collection of Harlem Renaissance art in the world, among many other iconic works from artists of African descent from around the world.
