Unit 1: Class 7 - Ancient Kemet (Egypt): Predynastic Period & The Old Kingdom
(10,500 B.C. – 2,181 B.C.)

Unit 1, Class 7 begins our formal study of ancient Kemet/Egypt. We begin with a study of the predynastic period before the actual uniting of the Two Lands by King Narmer, or Menes. This is important because many people believe that ancient Kemet (Egypt) emerged independent of any African influence. In fact, some even argue that ancient Kemet (Egypt) was not an African civiliazation. Unit 1 Class 7 will explore the foundations of ancient Kemet (Egypt), including its spiritual belief systems and its many pioneering contribtuions to world civilization.
